Mexican GP review 2025

2025 Mexican Grand Prix review

Mexico City always brings a mix of chaos and excitement ,high altitude, passionate fans, and unpredictable racing. This year’s race was no different, but one driver handled it all perfectly. Lando Norris dominated from start to finish and reminded everyone why he’s still in the title fight.

The Start

The race began with complete chaos into Turn 1. Four cars went side by side, and for a moment, it looked like no one would make it through clean. Norris managed to hold his line and came out still leading, while Leclerc and Verstappen fought right behind him.

Norris Controls the Race

Once in front, Norris looked calm and quick. He pulled away lap after lap, managing his tyres and pace perfectly. McLaren went for a one-stop strategy, starting on softs and switching to mediums , and it worked exactly as planned.
By the time Norris crossed the finish line, he was 30 seconds ahead of Leclerc in second. Verstappen finished third after struggling in the early laps.

Strong Midfield Runs

Oliver Bearman surprised everyone with a P4 finish for Haas, his best result so far. Piastri ended up fifth after a quiet race, keeping McLaren’s double top-five streak alive. Further down, Mercedes had a tough time , Hamilton got a penalty after running off while fighting Verstappen.

Tyres and Conditions

Racing in Mexico is always tricky because of the high altitude. The thin air means less downforce and higher engine and tyre temperatures. Most drivers started on softs, but managing tyre wear was key. McLaren’s early pace gave them enough cushion to stay in control even after the pit stops.

Final Laps and the Bigger Picture

A late Virtual Safety Car caused by Sainz stopping in the stadium section didn’t change much at the front. Norris was too far ahead to be challenged.
With this win, he moves one point clear of his teammate Oscar Piastri in the standings. McLaren now look like the team with the most complete package , strong in qualifying, fast in race trim, and sharp with strategy.

In short:
The 2025 Mexican GP was all about control. Norris didn’t just win, he managed every part of the race perfectly. Fast start, smart strategy, no mistakes. That’s how you win a Grand Prix.
